Patrizia Zelano studied photography under Master Guido Guidi at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, Italy. She holds a degree at Faculty of Literature and Philosophy in Pre-Columbian ethno-archaeology, at Alma Mater Studiorum, Bologna, Italy. She has previously worked as a researcher at the Museum of Extra-European Cultures Dinz Rialto in Rimini, Italy, and in Nasca (Perù).
Her artistic research is rooted in a space of indeterminacy, aimed at exploring the evocative power of photography, capable of transfiguring the subjects into symbols. Her works, characterized by the exclusive use of natural light and enriched by her sculptural creations and installations, become a way to access the unconscious, transforming each shot into an archetypal inquiry. Patrizia Zelano consistently aims to create epiphanies or gestalts that become opportunities to engage with the numinous, the mystery of reality, and to explore new semantic dimensions. Her works invite viewers to look beyond, to be permeated by the image, creating a connection between personal introspection and the universal dimension. Patrizia’s aspiration is to reach, through photography, a form of knowledge that transcends seeing and is rooted in feeling. After solo and group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad and after some publications, she achieved recognition and awards in national and international cultural events. Her portfolio are exhibited in public and private collections around the world.
She was born in Brescia and currently lives in Verucchio (Rimini), Italy.
